Entry: Echoes In The Esplanade Saturday, July 30, 2005

A week ago, I went for my ex-school band presentation. It was the cheapest ticket into the Esplanade. My first experience of the hall's renowned acoustics and elegant architecture. The music wasn't great (it was mainly classical I might add) but seeing a bunch of secondary school boys sweating in their brow, trying impress a daunting live audience warms my heart. It's like reliving the old days again.

Two tics and a program...

And nowwwww...from the heartlands of Dover Road..... The ACS(I) Concert Band!! (Don't they look cute?)

The verdict? They are a class above the rest. Alright I'm biased. There's the AC pride in me. Truthfully speaking, they went beyond the norm of trying to sound like a symphonic band. The spectrum of colourful sounds and haunting tunes boost their daringness to be a full-scaled orchestra. And that's why I love my band. Never too afraid to move beyond the boundaries of mediocrity. Technically, they may not be as proficient as some of the other groups but it is the expression of their spirit in the music that moves my heart.

After all that, my ex-conductor took me and my mate Jeremy out for a nice dinner in da Fullerton. Very classy place.

Indeed, it's a season of reunion... and reconciliation. Whenever the music plays... lives are brought back together.
